A Softening Jawline and Fading Definition
As structural support diminishes, the crisp lines of the jaw and cheeks can blur, and areas like the backs of the hands can begin to look bony and aged. You may want both the immediate lift of added volume and the longer-term benefit of stronger, more resilient skin.
Life Today
A jawline losing its definition, cheeks that have lost their lift, and hands that reveal age with prominent tendons and thinning skin.
Life After Radiesse
Restored contour and definition with an immediate improvement that continues to strengthen as new collagen forms, for a more sculpted and refreshed appearance.

How Radiesse Works
Most patients are familiar with hyaluronic acid fillers, which add volume mainly by holding water within the gel itself. Radiesse works differently. It is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier, so the gel delivers volume and lift right away while the microspheres act as a scaffold that can encourage your body to build its own collagen over the following months.
That biostimulatory action is why improvement may continue to develop after the initial gel has been absorbed. One practical distinction matters at consultation: because Radiesse is not a hyaluronic acid, it cannot be dissolved with an enzyme the way HA fillers can, so careful placement and conservative dosing are part of how the treating clinician keeps the result natural. For that reason, Radiesse is best suited to areas that benefit from firmer structural support, such as the jawline, cheeks, and hands, rather than soft, mobile areas like the lips.
A Different Approach: Hyperdilute Radiesse
Radiesse can be used differently depending on the treatment goal. In a more concentrated form, it may provide structural support, contour, or volume. Hyperdilute Radiesse uses greater dilution and broader tissue distribution, shifting the emphasis away from immediate filling and toward the biostimulatory effect of its calcium hydroxylapatite particles.
Rather than making an area look fuller, this approach may support collagen and tissue remodeling, with the goal of gradually improving skin quality, firmness, and mild laxity. It may be considered when broader skin quality is the concern rather than an isolated area of volume loss.
Preparation and placement depend on anatomy, tissue quality, the treatment area, and the intended result.
Whether Radiesse is used for structural support, biostimulation, or a combination of both depends on the tissue, anatomy, and treatment goal.

Where Radiesse May Fit
Jawline and cheek definition
Provides immediate volume and structural lift to define and contour areas that benefit from firmer support.
Aging hands
FDA-approved for the hands as well as the face, rejuvenating their appearance where tendons and thinning skin show age.
Longer-term skin quality
Stimulates ongoing collagen production over time, supporting firmer, more resilient-looking skin with results that can be long-lasting.
Distinct Roles in a Combined Plan
Neurotoxins
Combine structural volume with relaxation of dynamic lines for a balanced, refreshed look.
Sculptra
Pair immediate contour with broad, gradual collagen restoration across the face.

Where This Fits in Your Treatment Strategy
Radiesse is typically considered when volume support and skin quality are both part of the conversation. Because it behaves differently from other fillers, whether it is the right choice, and where it fits relative to other injectables, is determined through facial assessment at consultation.
