Preparing for Your Appointment

A little preparation helps every visit go smoothly. These are our general guidelines, you will always receive specific instructions tailored to your treatment plan.

How to Prepare

  • Arrive with clean skin when possible, free of makeup, lotions, and deodorant for treatments in those areas.
  • Stay well hydrated in the days before your visit.
  • Plan comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area.
  • If your treatment may involve downtime, check your social calendar and plan a comfortable buffer.

Medication Guidance

  • Bring a complete list of your medications and supplements to every visit.
  • Some medications and supplements can increase bruising. Never stop a prescribed medication without guidance from the prescribing physician.
  • Tell us about any recent antibiotics, new prescriptions, or changes in your health.
  • You will receive specific instructions for your treatment during your consultation.

Sun Exposure

  • Avoid significant sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanner) for the period the treating clinician recommends before laser or energy treatments.
  • Recently tanned skin can affect both safety and results for many light- and energy-based treatments.
  • Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is the single most valuable habit before and after treatment.

Skincare Before Your Visit

  • Active ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliating acids are often paused several days before treatment, we will tell you exactly what applies to you.
  • Avoid new skincare products in the week before treatment to keep your skin calm and predictable.
  • If you have a history of cold sores and are having facial treatment, let us know in advance.

When You Arrive

  • Please arrive a few minutes early for your first visit so we can review your information without rushing.
  • Photography may be taken when appropriate to document your starting point.
  • Numbing time is built into certain appointments, we will let you know if yours includes it.
  • Questions are always welcome. Bring a list if it helps.
